Revolutionary Birds

Concert

A Breton bagpipe player, a Tunisian singer, and a Lebanese percussionist came together to form this astounding trio. Erwan Keravec has repeatedly demonstrated that bagpipes, with their archaic power, are a fascinating instrument for experimentation and new music, and he has also collaborated with musicians such as Wolfgang Mitterer and Mats Gustafsson. In 2015 Keravec founded the trio Revolutionary Birds together with percussionist Wassim Halal and poet-singer Mounir Troudi, who is trained in Arabic vocal techniques, Sufi musical traditions, and jazz. Since then the trio has been exploring the fascinating potential of different musical worlds that is born from such an unusual combination—presented here for the first time in Austria!
