Ö1 Klassik-Treffpunkt

Live radio broadcast with audience

The radio program Ö1 Klassik-Treffpunkt broadcasts from the Akademie Graz. Among the guests of radio host Helmut Jasbar is Israeli conductor Ilan Volkov, who is conducting in conjunction with musikprotokoll for the Vienna RSO and Klangforum Wien. The time in between these two concerts brings the opportunity for an extended broadcasted conversation about music and other important things in life. As the former assistant to Seiji Ozawa at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Volkov is among the most successful conductors of his generation and an expert in contemporary music. In addition to his engagements with important international orchestras, he founded the project Tectonics in 2012 in Iceland, a festival whose imaginative and eclectic programming cuts across experimental music, improvisation, world music, electronics, and other styles, and has since then taken place in many other locations including Adelaide, New York, and Tel Aviv.
