Adam Donovan and Katrin Hochschuh have been working together as a duo since 2016: Hochschuh comes from the field of digital design and robotic architectural fabrication. With a background in robotics and acoustics, Donovan specializes in directional sound and acoustic lenses. Psychophysics Machines consists of five sound-generating robotic sculptures, whose audio-analysis functions are slowly altered by the artists’ interventions over the course of the performance. The resulting shifts in sound transform human perception, providing an experience rooted in the here and now.
