Danapris String Quartet

Concert

In this constellation the Danubius, alias Danube, is not synonymous with a waltz but with avant-garde music. Something we can only dream of in Austria became a reality last year in Ukraine. Taking its name from the Danapris, alias Dnieper—a string quartet was founded that consists of extremely enthusiastic performers and supporters of modern music. Four young, outstanding musicians—three men and one woman—have dedicated themselves to the latest developments in new music. The repertoire of Danapris String Quartet includes not only Ukrainian but also Austrian contemporary works. As part of musikprotokoll, this concert marks the Austrian debut of Danapris String Quartet, which highlights contemporary works for string quartet in Ukrainian music as well as a short piece—a delicate petitesse—by Kyiv's most renown composer, Walentyn Wassylowytsch Sylwestrow, who is still little known in Austria.
